Coordinate grids are easier to discuss when everyone can see the same axes, points and paths. A shared screen lets students explain where a point is and what changes when it moves.

Start with one plotted point
Before building a shape or route, plot one point and ask students to name it as an ordered pair. Keep the x first, y second routine visible.
- Use the first-quadrant plane while students are building the basic routine.
- Turn labels on when students need to check their coordinate language.
- Switch to four quadrants when negative values are part of the lesson.
- Use paths when students are ready to describe routes or connected vertices.
Preview before applying a transformation
The transformation preview is useful because students can predict the new position before the points are moved. Ask what will stay the same and what will change.
Load the shape example, preview a reflection in the y-axis, ask students to predict one new coordinate, then apply the transformation and check the result.
